1959, The Nun's Story, leading actress is lovely Audrey Hepburn as Sister Luke, directed by Fred Zinnemann. Watching this film as part of some research for my art class, color film, monochromatic almost at scenes it seems to me. The use of neutral colors, simple. I liked looking at the nuns vestment, they have a simple cut and simple color, lately this type of simplicity has been calling my attention. It gave some inspiration and ideas I want to begin to work on. I tend to go for baroque, exaggerated, my lema is more is more, yet at times, such as this, I accept less is more. On other basis the cross (see image with Audrey, on the left) is a religious symbol, a representation of Christ. Yet through the years, the cross has become a trend, a fashion statement more than a religious one. In contrast with the intention given to Hepburn's vestment the two above are not intended for religious symbolism. There are many factors for which the cross has come to be so "common", taking in consideration the amount of catholics-christian believers there are. I do love how they look, I've got some of my own.
