after a while

Been busy, well life ain´t easy.
Enjoying, learning, opening my mind.
I have began to upload some images to my new online portfolio. I was kind of scared of this process, but it is a requirement of my school. I say scared, because of past situations, concerning plagiarism of my work. Well:
Art is either plagiarism or revolution.
Paul Gaugin
We all know which road Gaugin took towards success.
I say Revolution for personal style.

USHANKA

Ushanka, translation, ear hat.
moi wearing my new ushanka hat which i had longed for so much time, keep me warm.  So I am curious about the history behind this obsession of mine. I'll post more when I finish my research.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
For Fall/Winter 2010, Jean Paul Gaultier used different inspirations. From Morocco to Togo, Mexico and India, to Greece, and RUSSIA. An eclectic mixture, using textures, and patterns, fusions of distinct lifestyles and incorporating them into a whole. As if it where a reflection of what is happening to our world with globalization.
Could we get to a point, where the whole world is one entity? Where all cultures are merged to create a multicultural culture? What would it be like? Mr. Gaultier, to me, is giving a little taste of that idea.
In my work, I have as a goal to incorporate details from a wide variety of sources and cultures. I aim for a style of styles.

Out of the 55 fall/winter runway looks, these are my favorite.

balmain. goldmine.

This season, winter fall 2010, Balmain continued its classical short dresses with high shoulders. The embroidery was something fresh, and what added texture and differentiated each dress, as the form does get a bit repetitive. Still I want them all. It is a collection which seems comfortable, sexy, dressed up, rockish, and femenine, all in one look.
GOLD GOLD GOLD, color gold played an important part.

limbo to lim

The looks I liked the most from Phillip Lim's Ready to Wear Fall 2010 Collection, the shoes (above) caught my eye. I love when shoes are heavy to the sight, give me a pair of strong constructed heels with lots of volume, add a white t. and ready to go on the roll. This season Lim's collection is clean, simple, yet elaborated at the same time, a balance of cut, texture, and colore.

Let it be, at times it seems this is vastly misinterpreted

A well known song by the Beatles says ¨Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be. ¨

It is very interesting how many, MANY, people go with the song, and "agree".  The thing is:

Some people say .just let it be. the thing is that the only way that they want it to let it be, is their way.

The epitome that breaks with this saying is the idea of dictatorship. Which have been present in a past and in the present, disguised with different labels, comes in different shades and colors but can be found all around.
How I define dictatorship: the idea that only one idea is correct, that only one perception is true.
THIS IS S:H:I:T (sorry for my language but it is quite true).
Dictatorships in politics, in style, in fashion, music, ettiquete, morals, lifestyle...and the list goes on and on.
To let it be, is to be aware of the fantastic variety that exists in our world, in our society. To be aware that one is unique, not because of genetics, but because each individual has its own perception, has its own living, and that is the honey in the jar we call life.
I will not whisper words of wisdom, I would much rather shout them for the world to hear. LET IT BE. It is a matter of respect, respect to individualism. One must understand that one is not always right, and in order to let it be, one must respect the way others are. Letting it be, is not about being one way or another, but respecting how the other is and mantaining how one is. Respecting life experiences and what such have created of each individual. Try to see the world through some one elses shades, using your own eyes. Then will you understand, what it means to, let it be.

TAKE ME TO JAPAN, aunque solo coma pan

Three are the places I would like to live in the most, Paris, Capadocia, and Tokyo. It is a dream of mine to be a nomad some day, but in those three places I would spend more time than in other locations. Yes, I am a day dreamer and a night dreamer, I am simply a dreamer.

What comes to my mind when I hear this word (Japan)  is. where i belong. so many elements present in japanese fashion and street style, a sense of present futurism, that I can relate my work to, from materials such as plastic, to ludic elements, and the intense mixture of color and texture.
It is freshness all over the place, it is taking fashion to a new level, having fun with it and making more, more, leaving behind the annoying cliche that less is more.

To the left is Mademoiselle Yulia, a japanese dj. I like her style, in that photo it is quite casual but with a touch of funkiness. I LOVE the blue hair, the red lips, and the overall look. I would love to live in Japan, there one may dress however one really wants to without hearing gasps and being stared at like in Mexico. Perhaps one of these days I will go live there.

In love to the bones...

Ricado Tisci for Givenchy, defenitely one of favorite of all fall high couture until now. From the neutralish color palet to the embroided details, it is sophisticated, detailed, and unique. Inspired by human bone structure, Mr.Tisci deslumbrtated my eyes with his latest work. The jacket in the first photograph is what I dreamed off last night, isn't it gorgeous? I could even braid it jaja.

WHAT IS BEAUTY?

Reading Tolstoy's What is art?
It says:
"...the object of aesthetic knowledge is Beauty. Beauty is the Perfect (the absolute), recognized through the senses....the aim of beauty itself is to please and excite a desire".(chapter III pg. 17)
I tend to agree and disagree. For me beauty is something else than perfection. Beauty may not be a general applied term. I consider beautiful the unique and bizarre. What I consider perfect is imperfection. That is what pleases and excites a desire in me.
Just cared to share a bit of what has been on my mind this morning.

fly me off to the moon, in a giant pink balloon

ill.pill.

In the hand of the devil
the green bill lies
he says "go on, buy & be civil"
meanwhile ,yet, another soul dies
he hands you a pill
and then your mind is ill
-
it's so much easier
if you brain is washed
into thinking cheesier
for them to control the cash
.
under the hand of the devil
humanity hides
fortunately there is a rebel
who can provide the guides
-
when the world is neurotic
about the next tv ad
its as if the world is narcotic
they've all gone mad
.

This is the case. you can follow me to space.  but in my cave. you´ve got no wave.

keep it simple. wearing a vintage vest, I hided the buttons and added the belt. it has a more interesting silhouette that way. background.space, beautiful space, inspiring, it is crazy how we are just floating in space. its rare i swear, just take some air.
I was doing transfers on canvas, which was going to be a jacket. Then the accident occurred, a 1 litter can of acrylic black paint fell all over it. There is no need to panic, although the stain is gigantic. As the spill of black paint invaded my floor I began to think about the current oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This present situation makes me angry, sad, and preoccupied all at the same time. For such I decided to use this accident for an art piece. If paint spills so quickly over my terrace in just five minute just imagine the damage the sea is going through. I don´t think many people realize the severity of this event. Short term we are looking at terrible consequences, but this fall short for what is to come. STOP OFF SHORE DRILLS........in the canvas i am also writing things that come to my mind when I think of the oil spill.....some such as:.....the fish will DIE because we LIE........................who to blame? BP may be the company in charge but we all demand oil.

originality. it does not exist in a pure state, but there is a vast difference between being influenced by somebody´s work and copying their work. sadly i had a case of my own, this lost girl (i suppose), began to copy my work, and eventually even my signature, at first i felt angry, now I just feel sorry that she is so lame. Originality is not to invent something out of the blue, it is a process, there is no timing, either too long or too short, it requires dedication and experimentation. All creations have a reference, all the five senses participate. In visual arts, everything I  see is an influence, it is not what you see, how many things you see, it is the perspective you see it with and how you canalize the different influences into your own and unique perspective.
